Greccio at the Basilica
Greccio at Mary, Queen of the Universe Basilica: December 17, 2023
The Five Franciscan Martyr Region and Lady Poverty Fraternity hosted a Greccio service at the Mary, Queen of the Universe Basilica in Orlando, FL to celebrate the 800-year Centenary. The fraternity prepared and donated artwork providing information on St. Francis and the first live nativity held in Greccio, Italy. The Very Rev. Anthony Aarons, Rector of the Basilica, greeted participants and can be seen below with the artwork. These materials will now be a vital part of the Shrine's nativity scene for years to come. This Holy Spirit-filled service was attended by over 50 secular Franciscans and their guests from all over the state of Florida, with some travelers coming from as far as Phoenix, Arizona.

Lady Poverty Fraternity Installs and Blesses Two Peace Poles
Two peace poles were installed and blessed at San Pedro Spiritual Development Center Feb. 3, 2024.
The members of the Lady Poverty Fraternity of the Secular Franciscan Order purchased the first one in prayer for an end to the war in Ukraine, and the second when more violence broke out in the Middle East. Each pole is inscribed with the message, “May peace prevail on earth” in multiple languages.
A peace pole was also gifted to students representing the Franciscan Youth Group at Bishop Moore Catholic High School. Students from several parishes including St. Andrew, St. John Vianney and St. Philip Phan Van Minh also attended the ceremony along with a Ukrainian representative from St. Mary Protectress Ukrainian Catholic Church, and University of Central Florida’s Student Jewish Life Center.

Lady Poverty Fraternity joyfully welcomes our newly professed member on February 2, 2025.
